Welcome to Spinach and Sprinkles. I’m Julie and you can follow on my daily path to finding the sprinkles of joy and health everywhere. My name means ‘youthful one’ and my mother found this out years later and said, ‘Well, that answers a lot of things…’

I am a newlywed, sister, daughter, friend, and elementary school teacher. ...WELCOME to Spinach and Sprinkles!
I’ve decided that welcoming you into my shoe closet is the VERY best way to get to know me. Brace yourself. This is big. However if you did come to my house and look in my closet, I’d probably scream and pick things up and tell you that this isn’t the way it normally looks. So, lets do this on-line, it’s much prettier this way…
Welcome to Julie’s shoe closet…
Item #1 in Julie’s shoe closet: Red high heels
These beauties are my wedding shoes. I love pretty shoes! Classic with a touch of wild at the end of my wedding dress. Wearing shoes like this makes me feel like a better woman. I am classic with a touch of unexpected color.
Item #2 in Julie’s shoe closet: Running shoes
These would be my running shoes. I value fitness and the ability to be active. I am thankful daily that God has blessed me with a body that works as well as it does. Don’t get too excited, I run but I am not a runner. Wish I was… I am physically active and love to get a good sweat on! I love how it makes me feel like I’ve done something. I’m planning on reaching for a 5K in the fall.

'Running' shoes! Let's get a sweat on!
Item #3 in Julie’s shoe closet: Boots
I am a farm girl at heart. I grew up outside a very small town in Northwest Kansas on a large farm. My whole family worked night and day to make sure that our crops, cows, and whole farm were running smoothly. I wouldn’t trade it for the world; I value that I grew up chasing cows, farm kittens, and my older sister on occasion. Almost nothing makes me happier than getting my boots dirty (especially if it’s cow crap, sorry that was too far… I just love working with the cattle. They are my favorite) When I put on my boots I feel at home and ready to work (or do some dancing)

Square toed Tony Lama boots are good for the 'soal'
Item #4 in Julie’s Shoe Closet: Flats! (dress flats to be exact)
I am one tall girl, racking in at 5′ 10 ish…. I love high heels, truly, I do…. but there has to be a place in my heart for flats, for MANY reasons. I am an elementary school teacher, lower elementary for the time being; so when I bend down to help them, I hate that my knees are up to my eyeballs. They hurt when you are on them walking around 7 year olds all day and the kids find them to be intemidating, for real. Plus, I have a couple of inches on the other half and I don’t need to emphasize how friggin tall I am…. Alas, the flats!

The elementary school teacher flats!
Item # 5 in Julie’s Shoe Closet: Flip-Flops!
What girl doesn’t own every color of flip flops? They are my summer go-to and I love that they just wash off when I’ve been in my garden. Easy, no fuss, and classic!

Gold flip flops! Love them!
I hope you enjoyed the look into my shoe closet! I can’t wait to hear from all of you and how you live your joy filled lives!
Also, I let you all in a little more in my post “Who lives like this?!!?” It goes through my journey to the coast and how my heart drew me back to the midwest. You should read it, it has cows in it
And a pretty sunset or two….
Welcome and feel free to speak up! I promise to be nice.

Thanks for stopping by and good luck with the new blog!
Hi, Julie! Thanks for stopping by my blog. I’m from a teeny tiny small town just south of York. I went to college at UNL and moved to the East Coast for a year…now I’m in the San Francisco Bay Area. Glad to “meet” another Midwest gal.
Ah, York. Know it, thought about going to college there…. And, I also did the east coast thing, for a semester. Crazy. I LOVED IT!
Glad to ‘meet’ you too!
Funny you should mention York since that where I’ve lived for the past 5 years! I lived all over, MA, NH, ME, & Cali. I never thought I’d end up here but the hubby and I decided to try it out since he is from this area. It took some getting used to but I think overall people are nicer here and at least we aren’t as far out in the middle of nowhere as you (Trader Joe’s is only 50 miles away)! Looking forward to seeing future posts from you!

Hey Julie!
Just discovered your blog! What awesome shoes you have =).
What makes me joyful is living in Jackson Hole, my amazing boyfriend and good friends.
Thanks for all your great posts! So glad I found ya!
Natalie, nice to ‘meet’ you!
I love that you know right away what makes you joyful, what a lucky girl! Jackson Hole? That is *AWESOME*!!!! ….Thanks for your kind comment, I love hearing from readers!
Do you love country music?!?!?!
I love all music! Seriously, ALL of it!… Country, rock, classic, Christian, 80′s!
The herbs will be worth it, for sure!…. Probably won’t be able to make the shallots work, I agree with you there… I’m thinking when my college town does their 5K for homecoming would be the perfect time to run my first! Two birds with one stone!…. The goofy runs deep around Spinach & Sprinkles! It’s more fun that way!
Very cute blog!
Thank you! I stopped by yours too, LOVED it!
I love your way of introducing yourself on the blog. How cute
I’m a newlywed and elementary school teacher as well! Can’t wait to explore your blog!!!
I love meeting elementary teachers!!! We understand the madness!
Love your wedding shoes… I got bright blue ones!
Ooooo, were they your something blue! CUTE!
I love cowboy boots, but I still haven’t bought a pair yet! Those are super cute!
They are THE BEST! <3 them! …..And very comfortable too!
Just found your blog. I’m from Nebraska and grew up on an acreage. I’m an elementary teacher turned SAHM/substitute teacher. I’m looking forward to reading your blog, love it so far!
Hey Katie! AWESOME! …..I worked in Nebraska ever summer because I lived on the border growing up! It’s a wonderful place for sure! I love ‘meeting’ someone from the ‘midwest’, especially when it is so close to home! Welcome!
BTW, I love the shoes. The gold flat are very cute & practical for teaching. I am about 5′ 10″ and always wanted to be at least 6′. Most of my “teacher clothes/shoes” have been replaced by “SAHM to 2 preschoolers clothes/shoes”. Where did you work in NE and where do you live now? The midwest is a great place to grow up and live.
I think we must have been ‘corn fed’ in the midwest! HA!…..
I worked in Alma, NE at a church camp and had the time of my life…. Now I live in southern Kansas…. Still, LOVE going to Kearney to shop!
Aw, such a cute way to introduce yourself! I just found your blog and love your enthusiasm for life, and shoes! I look forward to reading more!
I’m a midwestern girl too – currently trapped on the island of Manhattan, but you never forget your roots!
SO glad you stopped by! ….I lived on Long Island for a semester and LOVED it! Which part of the midwest?…. About me introducing myself, the husband thinks I should dedicate a post to all of my red high heels; there may or may not be 7 (or more!) different pairs. He just can’t see the difference! HA! …..And, Here’s to Midwestern roots!
You added more shoes to your closet! lol I’m 5’10″ too so flats are a must!! Yay for being tall!
What a clever introduction!
