Happy Monday! …& I need YOUR help! (please…)

Okay so I’m not so sure I’m on the ‘Happy Monday’ boat but let’s pretend shall we…. Fake it till you make it, right?!?!  In reality while I was typing, I actually typed ‘Happy Friday’. It must seem more natural or something. I dunno.

So on my mind this week……

It’s BABY TIME!!

My beautiful and wonderful sister is expecting this week… Friday to be exact!

At the pool A & G

A day swimming at the pool! --She is just a couple of weeks from due date in this picture... Isn't she BEAUTIFUL?!?

I will be taking off work to be with her during her scheduled sea section. Her husband will be by her side but I just need to be there too. My heart & head would be nuts if I wasn’t in the hospital while she was going under the knife and bringing another little life into the world. (please pray that all goes well….)

She is such a great mommy & I can’t wait till I can say that she is a mommy of two. She will bless them BOTH so much by the life she leads and the woman she is. …Hopefully I hold myself together a little better than last time. I cried uncontrolably for days when my nephew was born. true story.

YAY for the new baby coming into the world!

The question is still…

I can’t wait to hold the new baby and give it kisses. Oh, when the nephew sees his new little brother and sister for the first time, I will squeal with joy and  you can bet that I’ll be a total goner when the family of four is together for the first time! …Yep I’ll cry.

On to where I need all of your help…

I need to make her food that will freeze or that she can just heat up or throw in the microwave.  I want to make her enough food to last her as long as I possibly can. So far, she has only ‘requested’ that I make Maryea’s Protein Balls…. Made them a couple of months ago for her and she wants them again. Good thing for her I’ve made about 5 batches since then and they are even better than they were the first time I made them for her. Thank you Maryea for the food I just can’t get enough of! ♥

I adapted my recipe a little bit to add some whole wheat flour & milk to make them a little more cookie dough ish!! Mmmm!

Cookie Dough Protein Balls! ….With sprinkles 😉

Cookie dough protein balls!! :)

QUESTION: What should I make for the mommy of 2?!?

HELP!!!! I want to rock her socks off with all the food! 🙂

  1. Congratulations to your sister! Right now my brain is too fried from class to even think.. but if I do come up with anything I will definitely let you know 🙂

  2. Oh my gosh what an excited week this will be for you and your sister! I’ll be thinking about you two and hoping that everything is smooth sailing 😀

As for what you should make– maybe some kind of granola or cereal bars? Are you thinking more of meal items or snack items?

  3. Sounds like it will be an exciting week!!! Can’t wait to hear all about him or her!

I’d say whip up a batch of chili or soup. I know it’s still technically summer, but you can make a complete meal out of either and they will freeze well. Also, marinara/pasta sauces will freeze well. Someone would need to cook the pasta the night they plan to eat it, but the sauce would already be made.

Please let us know what you end up making!!! And let us know how everything goes 🙂

  4. Ahhhh congratulations to her!!! That’s awesome! As for food, you could try these Peanut Butter Bean Blondies. They’re healthy and freeze really well! http://bitesandbliss.com/?p=9126 Not to spam by any means, it’s just a suggestion. 🙂

  5. How about lasagna? It feezes really well and is filling too. Good for a new Mama!
Crock pot dinners are always good too! Throw in 3-4 chicken breast, onions, potatoes, green beans, carrots, and garlic. Add enough water and Newmans tuscan Italian dressing to cover most of the food. Set on low for 6-7 hours. Should have enough for left overs. This freezes well too.

Best of luck to your sister during her delivery, they are always amazing. God Bless both of them during the delivery!

  6. When I had my baby, people dropped us off cabbage rolls, pasta and even just buns and sandwich fixings, etc. Personally (and this might be just me because I don’t eat a lot of sweets) I would stick to more meals and less treats. Some ideas are:
-Pot pie (I have a recipe on my site that is dead easy to make, and she could freeze and heat).
    -Lasagna
-Chicken parmigian (just send the prepared chicken and sauce frozen, and then a bag of dry noodles that she can boil when she is ready to serve it).
-Pizza dough, already rolled out (I have a good recipe on my site for this as well).
-Barley casserole (again, on my site).
I can just email you the recipes if it is easier so you don’t have to go digging around my blog.

I know when I got home from the hospital, I was always really thirsty because I was nursing, so maybe some fun drinks too?
    Yay for new babies!

  7. Hey again! Brittany over at A Healthy Slice of Life just posted a great freezer meal- banana nut oatmeal pancakes!!! I thought your sister might want some breakfast stuff too 🙂

  8. How exciting! I love this soup – it freezes great, super tasty, healthy and filling! (and really cheap to make)

  9. I would DEFINITELY go with those cookie dough protein balls! They look absolutely incredible!! Congrats to your sister (and you! being an Aunt is the best!)

  10. I found a Giada recipe on Food Network that’s supposed to freeze well. It’s spinach and turkey stuffed shells with sauce. I like the recipe, but I think a vodka sauce might be better than whatever zesty pasta sauce she uses. Good luck with all the cooking!

  11. Oh my goodness, how exciting for your sister! That’s so wonderful that you are going to go be there with her for the birth of your new nephew or niece! I would say soup or lasagna!

  12. awww congrats on your sister’s new baby! i hope the c-section goes as planned! I would suggest making casserole type dishes! They freeze well! Lasagna and chili (veg/beef/chicken) are great for the freezer!

  13. Dessert or meals? For meals, make meatballs that can be frozen–nothing is easier than making some pasta and sticking a bowl of canned tomato sauce and frozen meatballs in the microwave 🙂

  14. Congrats! I will say a prayer that all goes well!

My favorite make ahead dish to bring to people is this….

It is seriously a hit with everyone I have made it for!

  16. You’ve already gotten some great ideas, but I’ll second the soups and casseroles/lasagna type dishes. Those freeze well and are easy to heat up and serve.
Congrats to you and your sister. Such an exciting time!
I’m so glad she liked the protein balls enough to ask for seconds. 🙂
