Playground knowledge….

On days like this I just have to share…. I learn so much in the elementary school playground! FOR REAL!

I was standing there kid watching when I hear a girl say, with the most serious face in the whole wide world…..ย

Wish I would have known this sooner! ๐Ÿ˜‰

“Did you know if you kiss a boy, your teeth will fall out?!?”

Her face when she said this to her friend was truly priceless. She 100% believes this to be a fact and for all I know, it’s true.ย Maybe your teeth do fall out if you kiss boys… I need to convey my belief, especially when I’m her teacher. She brightened my day and there is NO DOUBT in my mind that I will remember that exact moment forever.ย

I learn so ย much on the playground!ย Second, third, and fourth graders are so knowledgable. They have so much to share with the world and their hearts full of dreams make my heart feel alive! My job has been super stressful and I pray every day that I can be the best teacher I can for them. They deserve it, especially for comments like that. ๐Ÿ™‚

AND….

I heard this joke 9 times today. I seriously counted after the first 3 times…

Student- “Wanna know how to make Lady Gaga cry?”

Mrs. H.- “Yah. How do you make Lady GaGa cry?”

Student- “Poker face” “Get it?! ย Poke her face, poker face– like her song, you know.”ย

I have to admit I thought it was funny. I laughed…. all 9 times. ๐Ÿ˜‰

QUESTION-ย Have your teeth fallen out because you’ve kissed a boy?!?! I need to find out if this is true!!!! ๐Ÿ˜‰ -OR- Any playground knowledge you remember?!?

  1. Aw that’s cute! Stories like that sometimes make me wish I taught elementary instead of high school, but the high schoolers are a bread of their own in the “I can’t believe they said that” genre! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Breed, not bread! ๐Ÿ˜‰ haha

  3. So far my teeth haven’t fallen out, but my honey and I both started getting cavities around the time we got married….. ๐Ÿ˜‰

It’s hearing stories like this that make me want to have kids…they say the funniest things!!!!

I just remember pulling boys hair on the playground. I have an awful memory for that type of stuff, so I’m not sure what knowledge I got from being out there!

  4. HAHAHA oh my gosh kids are so freakin hilarious!!! Love them. I was surrounded by 3 year olds today when I went into a school to do hearing screenings on them. They are toooooo cute!

p.s. my teeth have never fallen out from kissing a boy ๐Ÿ˜‰

  5. That is too funny! I love the innocence of a child.
Playground days…I just remember running away and screaming from all the boys, they had cooties after all, whatever those are, I am sure cooties are contagious. ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. This made me laugh out loud! Kids say the cutest things and they are so serious. I love it! I love the joke too. It’s actually a pretty good one. ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Omigosh, that poor little girl! She must be so scared of kissing a boy! In my playground days in preschool, my best friend and I would run around chasing our favorite boys haha and now I wouldn’t make the first move- haha isn’t it funny how we change? And that Gaga joke is pretty cute! Please continue to tell us more stories! I love these!

  8. Hhaha this post was so cute, it made me laugh ๐Ÿ™‚ Thankfully my teeth have not fallen out yet…but that is advice to keep in mind!

  9. That made me laugh! I could picture how serious she really was. ๐Ÿ™‚ I bet her parents told her that so that she’d stay away from the boys lol. I remember some of the things my parents used to tell me, and I’ll never forget them! Also, your posts about teaching really make me want to try it. I’m actually looking at how to sub at the school district online right now. ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. Awww! I love that!!! Kids are so stinking cute. Their perspective on the world is so unique (and HILARIOUS!).

My teeth have not fallen out yet, phew! The only playground information I remember is when Justin Day said that our skin is held together by our belly button. I was so confused and I KNEW he was not right, but I did not know a better function for the belly button…

  11. haha, love that joke. cute kids! Just told my boyfriend and he laughed too. ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. How friggin cute is this???? I would have died rolling around if I saw the little ones saying this….too funny! My teeth have not fallen out yet ๐Ÿ˜‰

    xxoo

  13. HAHAHA! If only that were true! Love the Lady Gaga joke!

  14. LOL I wonder how long she will believe that her teeth will fall out for! So adorable! Hearing the beliefs of little kids must be one of the best highlights of your job.

  15. Ha ha love that lady gaga joke!

  16. They things kids say! My 4 year old son told me the other night while I was making dinner that he wasn’t hungry any more because he had a coin in this throat. It turns out it was a quarter and let’s just say we haven’t seen it yet. I made it very clear to him that he should never ever dig through his poop like I have had to! I’ll have to ask my 4 and 5 year olds if they have heard that on their playgrounds about teeth falling out from kissing. Boys had cooties when I was in elementary. I loved teaching second graders, they are so young and innocent, yet so grown up with big dreams for the future. It sounds like you are a wonderful teacher. I have had to

  17. Hehe cute joke!
I don’t remember any of my own playground knowledge but I teach fifth grade and watch the kids out on the playground everyday- they do the whole “cooties” thing still which makes me giggle ๐Ÿ™‚

  18. hahaha!!! I love this!! I guess you learn something new everyday, right? I remember when one girl told me that if I let my dog pee on her lawn the grass would go on fire. I never walked my dog by her house again!! It has totally freaked me out ever since then, and I thought her mom was a witch!!!

  19. Oh my word that is too, too precious! Kids are amazing – I used to work as a camp counselor in college and I miss being surrounded by all their awesome weirdness! I always love reading about your enthusiasm for your work – I need to heed your example! ๐Ÿ™‚

  20. hahaha i remember the playground days. i remember the boys chasing the girls and when somebody said it was because they like us, i was like, ewwww no! hahah wow how things have changed ha

  21. AHAHAHA. That is the cutest thing ever. Luckily my teeth have never fallen out but I DO remember thinking all kinds of crazy things about boy/girl interaction when I was little!

  22. hahahaha- I work with kids too, and some of the jokes they tell me some times are really “cringe”ers, and I have to force a laugh out. I kind of like the lady gaga one though :).
