…. Does anyone else automatically type fro-yoU instead of fro-yo??! Or am I the only one out there? (I may or may not have just did it AGAIN! *cough*cough*)
Another secret confession- 9 times out of 10 this fall season I have typed pumpkinG instead of pumpkin. My fingers automatically put that G on there -ing…. Ugh!!! I need to get my act together!
I have a tough week and I’m going to be dreaming of fro-yo even though I can’t have any for weeks. I thought I was headed back to the doctor at the end of this week and could get more but…. that turns out to be a no go. Which isn’t the news I wanted. No fro-yo and no answers and no progress…. I actually wanted to go to the doctor and maybe get some questions answered and progress forward a tad. This standing still thing is getting old. Really old.
This week!
I am going to be super busy this week- it’s a long, hard week at work. Getting to school by 7:00 AM and not leaving till 8:10 PM. Honestly not seeing the light of day. It is called Parent-Teachers Conference. These words alone can strike fear into any teacher’s veins. (I kid- I kid, kind of…) Not because we don’t want to talk to parents. That’s not true. I love getting feedback from parents and to get to know how they think it’s going. I just never know what to expect. To be completely honest, I am worried that people are judging me and may be dissatisfied with their child’s education or how I assigned too much or too little homework. (I’m a people pleaser and hate if one person is .00001% upset with me)

There are a million different ways that a conference can go and it is just nerve racking to never know what to expect. I am glad that I can sit across the table from parents and say with 100% certainty that I am doing what I feel is the most beneficial for each and every student and that I love and care for them as my own. Plus, I put cookies in the middle (or cookie dough balls in this case). That always helps 😉

Aw, I remember having parent-teacher conferences and being so scared that the teacher was going to say something bad about me to my mom! Hopefully you’re not that kind of teacher 😉

Good luck with the conferences. We don’t do that in my district. We have “student led conferences” so the kid talks to the parent and the teacher makes sure they do it by having it happen at school. It drives myself and my mom crazy because who knows better how I’m doing than my teacher? (did that sentence make sense?) We’ve got those this week, too.
And I know there is a word that I always mess up but I don’t remember it right now. I kept typing ring as right today, but that’s not the word…
Yayy you finally got frozen yo!! And that spoon is excellent. 🙂 I don’t really remember parent teacher conferences, but I can imagine it being not very fun. Some parents are probably great to talk to but it’s always that one or two that ruin it. lol Hope they go well for you!
Ooo good luck getting through the week! Our conferences are always the week before, and the week of Thanksgiving. We only have to have one late night though, so that makes it a little easier. I’m doing two though, because I’m nice like that 🙂
Last year I was the librarian at a middle school, but I had an “advisory class” that met once a week for 30 minutes. I ran all the conferences for those kiddos. It was terrible because I didn’t know them academically (my class wasn’t graded) and I didn’t know them as well as their teachers. Parents were NOT pleased!
I hear you about the sitting around and waiting. My mom always says that it is better to dance with the devil you know than the one you don’t!
I was always a good student but for some reason I would pretend to be nervous for PT interviews…can’t tell you why!
Oh good luck!! I used to quite like PTA meetings when I was little because I was such a dorky hardworker… when I was a teenager that sort of changed , but even then I was okay with them because (if I was sitting right there) the teachers always used to find it hard to say anything that bad about me – or maybe I was never as bad as I thought anyways!
Do you enjoy being a teacher? Its definitely a path I’ve considered taking, so I’m always super interested to hear!
I never type those! Whenever I type marathon I always put marathong though. Haha I’m not sure why!! I didn’t mind parent-teacher conferences because I was a good student 🙂 I totally understand how you want to please everyone, I’m the same way. Good luck girl!!
Parent-teacher conferences can definitely be intimidating for the teacher! Ours don’t last a whole week though, thankfully!

I am also a huge people-pleaser! I would have never even thought of how much pressure these conferences put the teachers in! I am sure you are going to get A++ reviews!

And I think those yummy cookie dough balls will definitely tip the scale in your favor too! I’m definitely a people pleaser as well and it’s hard sometimes because it puts a lot of unnecessary stress on us! But I’m sure things will go well!

Good luck with the conferences! I don’t think I dreaded them as a kid because I was well-behaved, but at the same time I wasn’t a huge fan of being critiqued so it was a little uncomfortable I guess.
hahaha I never thought about “fro-you” but that reminds me of a friend of mine who used to say “happy new you” instead of “happy new year” which is now our standard new year’s greeting!

ahh good luck with all of that! we are doing that here and my teacher is overwhelmed! they are having pt conferences during class meaning she is discussing with parents while she is suppose to teach!

I was a total perfectionst so I loved parent teacher conferences. Plus, my little friends and I loved running up and down the dark halls of the school in the evenings when our parents were in the rooms. I know, something I’m sure you just LOVE when kids do. Troublemaker perfectionists, yep, teachers worst nightmares. HAH. 🙂 Good luck with the conferences! I bet those cookie dough balls get you major points!

Omg. P/T conferences are so intimidating. I had to do them for the last three years when I had a teaching job, and mostly with very wealthy parents who did not speak much English!!! So scary! The cookies definitely help though!
For the record, I would do everything in my power to ensure that my mom didn’t see the paper with the dates on it for parent-teach conferences. I knew my teachers were busy and could use one less conference. 😉

it’s crazy going thru those conferences!! my friends who are teachers now say it’s totally parents against teacher sometimes instead of the teacher trying to talk to the parents honestly about their kid, I hope that isn’t your experience! so scary. good luck!!
Ugh, I hated when my parents had to go in for the meetings…..they would come home with something funky to tell me!! What an interesting job you have my friend 😉
