Words of a With-child Woman- The one with the Trampoline Bladder

It is no secret that being “with-child” is a journey. It has its ups and downs. I wouldn’t trade a single up or a single down, they are all part of the experience of carrying a baby in your tummy. I find myself saying, I need to write these down, I don’t want to forget them- so I am, this is me writing them down.  I ‘m going to be calling these quick little blurbs about pregnancy “Words of a With-child Woman”. Be prepared for a chuckle, an eye roll, to shake your head, smile, or what-have-you. Just like this pregnancy- you’ll never know what to expect. 🙂  I sure don’t know what is around the corner. Each day is a journey!

SO…… Here you have it.

Words of a With-child Woman.

“Baby, did I give you permission to use my bladder as a trampoline?!?!!”

...source…

It has to be the most crazy feeling in the world when our sweet, lovely baby turns into a bouncing baby and uses my bladder as a trampoline. I’m serious. That is what it feels like. One second, I am completely comfortable and the next micro second, I feel the baby jump on my bladder.  Or maybe he/she is kicking or punching it. I’m not sure. But, I am sure that I feel it! It is such a quick jab that it is frightening on the bladder, and myself too. It honestly feels as if my bladder were a balloon and someone stepped on it, leaving it under pressure for a micro second- and then it is gone. It makes me jump out of my skin!

This is one thing I was not expecting. I knew pregnant women had to use the restroom all the time- but I didn’t quite understand— I understand now…. In fact,  I’ll probably have a whole post on it sometime just to make light of the situation at hand. I thought that bladder discomfort would come when much later in the pregnancy or when my tummy got pretty large, I wan’t ready for it quite this soon. I just kind of laugh at it now when I jump out of my skin- baby is just keeping me on my toes and reminding me of their presence. Oh, what a blessing.

Who would have though that someone kicking or punching your bladder would be a blessing?!

  1. I’m sure I’ll be a mess — constantly running to the bathroom — when I have a kid! I ALREADY always have to go, so I can only imagine!

  2. I totally know what you mean! It’s a crazy feeling. Our bouncy baby has been doing it ALOT to me today!

  3. I haven’t gotten to that stage yet, although the urge to pee is much more frequent and oh so difficult to do at time of need while in the classroom!

  4. Yay for these posts, I’m excited to hear more about your pregnancy journey! That’s so crazy that they baby has such an effect on the bladder! That sounds very uncomfortable! But he/she is just reminding mommy that he/she is in there! A blessing indeed!

  5. I’ve never experienced this feeling… But I’m sure I’ll need to wear adult diapers if I’m ever preggo. LOL. I have several coworkers that are pregnant right now. I swear I see them everytime I use the restroom. =D
